On February 11, 2003 Supervisor Don Knabe
of the 4th Supervisorial District introduced a Board
Motion calling for the formation of the Los Angeles County
Urban Wildlife Management Association (UWMA), which was
passed
without objection. The guidance for the creation of this
group comes from the Pest Management Division of this Department.
The UWMA consists of government agencies, humane organizations,
land managers, private groups or other "stakeholders"
with an interest in urban, native
wildlife issues.
The main mission of the association is
to attempt to find ways to reduce human/wildlife conflicts
in Los Angeles County through increased cooperation, education,
outreach, and research. A schedule of quarterly meetings
and
minutes of past meetings are provided below. For more information,
contact Jim Hartman at (626) 575-5462.
